Graeme Martinow and Thomas Furse-Roberts founded Boundary Space to create architecture that both respected its context whilst bringing the best in contemporary living. We have created tranquil homes in the heart of London that still display an appropriate grandeur for entertaining guests. These projects often have to work with complicated planning restrictions, neighbourly matters and rights to light issues. Boundary Space can guide you through this process and assemble the team you need.
We are able to bring together architecture and interior design in a harmonious whole. This is achieved through finishes, fabrics and furnishings to achieve a calm contemporary look. We also collaborate with some of the world's leading Interior Designers from Paris to New York who value our attention to detail and the balance we can bring between the architecture and interiors.
We do not have a house style, but rather an approach that can fuse classic and contemporary architecture and interiors. We think it is important to create modern liveable spaces, be they open plan or simply reconfigured for today's uses, whilst maintaining character and authenticity in existing buildings.
Boundary Space make the complex look simple and that is where we can really add value to your project. Structurally sophisticated architectural elements such as feature staircases can add dramatic impact to interiors, whilst adding flexibility to the plan. The interior design can further enhance these features, for example with mirrored walls and effective lighting.
Where we are asked to create a new build residence, we start from the context and then develop a unique modern interpretation. Both the form and materiality are important in anchoring the building in its location. We work with masons, metal workers and other crafts to find exactly the right finish and patina to lend the building the appropriate level of gravitas.
Boundary Space works on commerical projects in the luxury retail and boutique hotel sectors. This creates synergy with our luxury residential work and allows us to keep up with trends in the fast moving luxury markets.
Every element of design in the retail environment should work together, from the cups, to the lighting, to the layout and the selection of materials. We can help advise on all elements of the branding, packaging artwork and graphics and how this can work in harmony with the overall design of the space.
Boundary Space have been commissioned to do a number of exhibition stands over the years, which allow our teams to try out experimental forms and techniques and rapidly realise a vision. This keeps our design skills fresh and feeds into our larger projects.
Our studio is located in the Grade I listed Fulham Palace, within easy access of the prime residential areas of London. We pride ourselves on a collegiate environment and our collaborations with many different disciplines.
